Lost World Caverns

Descend 120 feet below the Earth's surface into a vast wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites. Lost World Caverns, discovered in 1942, is a truly magical place for both young and old. It takes approximately 45 minutes to walk through. We offer self-guided tours so you can take your time to explore the cavern at your own pace. Just remember to stay on the trail. A guide sheet is provided to tell you about the many different formations that make up this 1/2 mile loop. No matter what the temperature on the outside, the cave always remains a constant 52 degrees. A light jacket and good shoes are recommended.

You'll see formations such as The Snowy Chandelier, a 30 ton compound stalactite, presumed to be one of the nation's largest. The Bridal Veil is a beautiful column of sparkling white calcite. And of course there is the War Club, a 28 foot stalagmite made famous when Bob Addis sat on it for nearly 16 days, just to get his name in the Guinness Book of World Records. These are but a few of the formations you'll see when you visit Lost World Caverns. Bring your camera to show your friends and family the beauty of this cave when you tell them about the great time you had.

But wait, that's not all. See what roamed the earth millions of years ago. Browse our dinosaur museum and learn about the Tyranosaurus Rex, Triceratops and more. In 1967 the remains of a prehistoric cave bear (Arctodus pristinus) was unearthed in the cave. Fun and educational for the whole family. Great for school groups and church functions. We have several picnic tables, so bring your lunch and enjoy the panoramic view. Want to try something different for your next meeting or birthday party but the weather just won't co-operate? Make use of our spacious conference room. Call ahead for special rates.

Also,if you're looking for something more adventurous, check out our Wild Cave Tour. A 4-hour guided tour will take you into the deepest, darkest depths of the cave. Go where few have gone before. Crawl, climb, get muddy, have fun. We provide the gear and take photos so everyone in your group will have a set of their own. Just call a few days in advance to make your reservation. It's that simple.

What else is there to do at Lost World Caverns? Browse our 3,000 square foot gift shop. We carry unique gifts at reasonable prices. Our staff is always friendly and willing to help. When you arrive, you'll enjoy a friendly greeting from one of our 4 resident dogs. They'll even walk you to the door or guide you to the natural entrance.
